Kevlar is a trademark for a special light and strong polymer. It is a para-aramid synthetic fiber related to the aramids family.
Kevlar was developed in 1965 by Stephanie Kwolek of Dupont. Dupont still offers state-of-the-art products which we use in our products. The first factory production of Kevlar was in 1971.
Kevlar synthetic fiber has amazing mechanical properties, particularly its tensile strength. The only disadvantage is that Kevlar loses its properties when in contact with UV rays. Usually it is used with a UV resistant resin to avoid any problem.
